useradd: unable to lock password file.
Hello,
When logged in as root I try to change the root password by typing
passwd. It says “error writing entries to shadow file: no space left on
device.”
I cannot add a new user as well by typing useradd.
“useradd: unable to lock password file.”
Please advise.
Thanks.
Answer:
Your / is full. You need to find out what’s taking up all the space on
/ and delete some of it. The “du” and “df” tools may help you out here.
